Karen is the ACT Coordinator for the national charity My Wedding Wish which gifts weddings to couples who are affected by terminal illness.
On 12 June 2016, the ACT Crew was called to action and pulled out all stops and gave a wonderful couple, Jana and Ash, and their three beautiful children, the wedding of their dreams.
The efforts and generosity by all the wedding professionals was nothing short of heroic. In less than 24 hours, offers of support from some of the very best wedding industry professionals in the ACT came flooding in. Canberra certainly rallied behind this cause and put on a wedding to remember! All involved described the experience as being a privilege to be part of a miracle.
Celebrant
Julia Brownlee from Fine Lines Celebrations wrote and delivered a beautiful ceremony and made Jana and Ash’s dreams of becoming husband and wife a reality. Ash was adamant that they were to be married on 12 June, as this was the date that he met is beautiful partner eight years ago.
Photography and Videography
Wedding photography was provided by Philip Cristallo Photography See their video by the very talented Micael Oritz.
Chapel and styling
The wedding ceremony was held at the stunning Gold Creek Chapel and was beautifully styled by Pink Parasol Events.
The ceremony programs and a wedding candle was donated by Creative Flair.
A very moving dove release was included at the end of the ceremony, donated by Simply Doves Canberra.
Limousine
Aaron from Valley Limousines chauffeured the entire bridal party around all day.
Flowers and cake
Bridal bouquet, flower girls’ crowns and corsages were all donated by Flowers With Love.
A beautiful wedding cake for the reception, incorporating Jana’s love of butterflies, was donated by Canberra Cake Boutique.
Hair, Makeup and Fashion
A team of talented hair and makeup artists worked their magic on Jana and her girls, including:
- Bride – by Felicity McLachlan
- Bridesmaids and flower girls by Kristy Norris, Kate Beinke, Surpinder Sidhu and Judy Lu
- Bridal fashion, flower girls dresses and suits by Christine’s Place
Wedding rings were donated by Creations Jewellers of Manuka and included five diamonds to represent each member of their family.
Reception and Bridal Suite
The Hyatt Hotel Canberra generously provided a wedding breakfast reception for the 12 guests in a private dining room, and a Diplomatic Suite for Jana and Ash to spend their wedding night.
